BURKIM LLC is an aviation company driven by founder Dan Burkwald’s long-standing desire to combine his passion for aviation and business.
BURKIM LLC's current aircraft is a Cessan Citation III, a midsize cabin business jet with a 2,056 nm range and seating for 8 people. This aircraft is currently based in Waukesha, WI (KUES) and can accomplish trip operations from the Midwest to either coast non-stop, allowing passengers to enjoy a quiet cabin, spacious seating, a fully enclosed lavatory with a functioning sink and a “stand-up” cabin. The Citation III is under a Part 91 Certificate with 2 dedicated and seasoned pilots. The jet is also available for dry-lease for those seeking an extremely competitive private aviation solution.

Dan is a respected advisor to a diverse portfolio of companies: Manufacturers, Distributors, Engineering and Healthcare to name a few. He has served as a member of many professional organizations throughout Wisconsin and the country. Previously, he served on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Association of Health Underwriters, Southeast Chapter. A member of the American College, International Foundation of Employee Benefits, Wisconsin Association of Health Underwriters, National Association of Health Underwriters, Greater Milwaukee Employee Benefits Council and the Milwaukee Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals.
In addition to his participation in many business organizations, Dan plays an active role in the greater community. Inspired by his own health challenges and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle, Dan is a vocal supporter of the Medial College of Wisconsin. He is the past Charmian of MCW’s Digestive Disease Center Advisory Board. He provided guidance with long-range planning, goal setting and donor development. Living on North Lake, Wisconsin, Dan served as a commissioner of the North Lake Management District for 10 years and Tall Pines Land Conservancy in an effort to instill best practices in use and maintenance of the environment.
Dan founded Burkwald & Associates and in 2015, the 35+ year old Health Care/Benefits consulting firm merged with Gallagher, a $7B benefits and risk management consulting firm based in Chicago. Since the merger Gallagher has grown their presence in Wisconsin, doubled the business revenue and has multiple locations throughout the state in addition to their International footprint. Dan continues to support Gallagher with growth and client retention.
Dan currently supports the growth of both Element 6 Talent and EQ Mastermind with his son, JP Burkwald, and has guided the development of two new products with his daughter, Lizzy Burkwald. Over In the past 25 years Dan and partner, John Mikkelson, have built and maintained 60,000 sq feet of office space in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Since 2019 Dan has pursued his passion for flying as a pilot. He manages his Citation III Jet, 650PT, which is used in the business and with limited relationships in the form of a Leased Aircraft.
