Client Relations Manager

Burkwald & Associates, Inc., an award-winning employee benefits consulting firm, seeks a Client Relations Manager to join its team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a consultative, team-oriented sales environment and be guided by an uncompromising desire to satisfy clients and understand their unique business needs.

Position Requirements

  • Customer service focus.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills.

  • Working knowledge of insurance coverages (including self-funded plans), carrier products and employer needs.

  • Proficient analysis skills including plan cost calculations, reserve calculations, stop loss comparisons and benefit cost and renewal analysis for all benefit plans.

  • Ability to negotiate with insurance companies for clients' best interest.

  • Ability to lead planning and implementation work groups, both internal and external.

  • Strong project management, follow-up and scheduling skills.

  • Must believe in and support a team-based sales approach.

  • Multi-task oriented with attention to detail.

  • Independent thinker; who displays initiative.

  • Flexible team player with high-level problem solving skills.

  • PC proficiency, Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Word & Excel).

  • 3+ years of employee benefits experience.

  • College degree desirable or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Wisconsin Life/Health License a plus.

Position Summary

  • Exhibit consultative leadership role to analyze and craft client strategy.

  • Research relevant data and trends for accurate and knowledgeable client recommendations.

  • Develop and present analysis and renewal recommendations to senior management of client companies.

  • Utilize internal technology tool for sophisticated analytic reporting.

  • Work on escalated claims issues and plan administration questions.

  • Meet with prospects to establish needs and implementation timeline.

  • Review benefits analyst work and provide direction as needed.

  • Maintain up-to-date benefit knowledge through both in-house and external seminars, vendor training, publications and web research.
