According to The Greater Milwaukee Annual Report on Health Care 2006:
- In 2006, employers were slightly more aggressive in implementing prevention and wellness strategies.
- 2/3 of employers had at least one program in place -- up from 59% in 2005.
- Interest in wellness/prevention activities depended on employer size. 96% of companies with more than 500 employees offered a prevention or wellness program.
- Less than 1/3 of companies with less than 20 employees offered wellness programs.
- For all employers, the use of nurse/medical lines was the most popular approach.
Health risk assessments and disease management programs showed the greatest increase in popularity, both jumping from 14% in 2005 to 24% in 2006.
- Large companies (more than 500 employees) were most likely to utilize health risk assessments and disease management programs (74% and 63% of respondents, respectively).
- Fewer than 5% of small businesses (less than 50 employees) used health risk assessments and fewer than 15% used disease management programs.
